We’re excited to present Michelle Hutchison to Kaukapakapa School, where she will be teaching piano and singing to students of all ages. Building on the NZ Modern School of Music’s previous involvement in this small, close-knit community, Michelle brings both expertise and a passion for nurturing young musicians. Her lessons aim to inspire creativity, confidence, and a love of music, giving students a strong foundation in both vocal and instrumental skills. As we continue to grow in Kaukapakapa, we look forward to supporting local talent and making music education accessible and enjoyable for everyone in the area.
Michelle is a professional singer and has been teaching singing for 7 years. Having started performing at the age of 8 with her dads band, she built confidence entering karaoke competitions and was on the NZ Karaoke team in her teens, school talent quests, and Stars in Their Eyes NZ competitions.
Michelle has also been part of CenterStage theatre Orewa and was the understudy for Donna in Mamma Mia in Canterbury Michelle gained valuable knowledge learning piano from her grandmother, singing from Dr Beatrice Webster, the Performing Arts School, ABC Music, University of Auckland and The Voice College.
Michelle also song-writes and has recorded about 20 of her original compositions.
With classical training, this has sculpted her voice but she likes to sing modern mostly. The techniques she gained while learning classical influence her lessons today.
